Hi and welcome to my site! My name is Laura Bird Miller and I am the owner of Coffee and Canvas ™
Who am I? I’m a coffee-loving teacher by trade; I have a bachelors in biology and a fine art minor and began teaching art at Circle Christian School in 2001. I have taught K-12 art for over 23 years now, on and off and have also taught middle school science for the past 6 years.
I took some time off to become a business owner and my storefront studio “Coffee and Canvas” was opened in August of 2013. I enjoyed a three-year journey in the Springs Plaza location but closed its doors in 2016. From 2016 to 2020 I taught classes from my home studio and began mobile events, where I would bring the creative experience to you.
Today, in the year 2024, I teach middle school science and middle and high school art full time at Circle Christian, but I am available for art parties on Saturday mornings or afternoons and am also happy to serve you with a commissioned art piece. How can I help you with an art party?
- Have you ore your child ever wanted an “art-themed” birthday party? Birthday parties can be at your location on Saturdays with my mobile birthday party services. I bring all the supplies, set up, clean up, give step- by-step instruction/tutorials and provide professional, clean, creative fun with your group!
Where do I travel to? I will to come to your home, business, church hall, etc., within a 40-mile radius of my studio in Mount Dora, Florida. I have enough easels and a voice amplifying system to do up to a 30-person maximum if needed, and the price decreases as the number of children or adults for the event increases. What do I offer? My heart is to have fun inspiring budding artists! I offer art projects in the following media: painting with acrylics on canvas (most popular,) watercolors on watercolor boards, and drawing with chalk pastels, charcoal drawing, or oil pastels on oversize paper.
When do I offer these amazing things? Weekends for parties: Saturday mornings 10am-12pm, afternoons 1-3pm, 2-4pm,, or early evenings 4-6pm.
